2015
September: As a start up to this network, Seed Australia will give support to young people (18-40) from around Australia to explore together the theme Moral Technologies and to begin forming the organising team for the first event in April, and for the following years of the project. The first meet up: Two days of peer learning, leading to the deepening of the topic, setting of intentions and crafting form for the 2016 conference.
2016
Nicanor Perlas’ visit; a five day event workshopping the theme Moral Technologies. 50% of places have been reserved for younger adults, aged 18-38. We will look at the development of technology in relationship to the human being, asking: what is it to be human?
Later this year there will be a bigger gathering of young adults meeting together to look at the theme of initiative. This could be about projects or personal initiatives. Again, this is a place to meet each other, share ideas, and work to strengthen a network of young adults living a similar impulse. During this meeting we can imagine a group forming to create a bigger youth conference for the following year, opening up to a larger group of young people, and introducing them to the growing network. Again, travel funding would be provided for young adults to attend this event.
2017
Orland Bishop’s visit; continuing the theme of Moral Technologies. This speaker will bring a very different perspective, engaging us not in the details, but in the deep spiritual task and realities today, and for the future. This will be a larger conference aimed at young adults in the first instance, but again with space for not-so-young adults too, to be held for people from all over Australia. Attendee travel expenses will be supported as needed.
With a network beginning to be established, a question could be put as to whether there was a group of people who wanted to organise a year 12 conference for the following year, and possibly make this an annual event… e.g. ‘To The Future; Waldorf Class 12 Conference’. This would provide opportunities for waves of mentorship within the growing network.
2018
International guest speaker (TBA); to give one more perspective on Moral Technologies. This speaker will work very much with the Christ event in the 21st Century; this having been the main inspiration in the Moral Technologies project. Further details pending.
We will be regularly updating the Moral Technologies and Seed Australia sites as events unfold. Please be in contact if you wish to be involved in any way. The theme of Moral Technologies is important and can go in many directions, so this initiative will grow out of the will of its participants: co-creators are welcome.
